Day 293

20-10-10

This afternoon Alex and I started putting the roofing up on the pergola.
Lots of screws will be used!

Day 285

12-10-10

I know it's a weed but capeweed flowers are wonderful for taking photos of!

And because I've been so sick this month and missed photos here's another photo I took today.

I was brave (I'm allergic to bees) and ventured right up close to our apple tree to watch the bees do their "thing" with all the blossom and was in awe when I found this little guy's legs laden with pollen!
One of my favourite photos this year for sure. :)

Day 184

03-07-10

With the rain last night I got some interesting shots of the apple tree down the back of the back yard this morning.

And a bonus shot from Callum's birthday party we had today. :)

(note to self: remember to make sure Alex is not around when trying to take a serious photo. lol)

Day 182

01-07-10

Yesterday my mum taught me how to prune roses and today I tackled the roses that she didn't do.
I think I did pretty well.
Got snagged a few times on some thorns and drew a bit of blood but look at the size of those thorns!
I think it was inevitable.

Day 178

 27-06-10

I am now officially 30 years old.
I don't feel it, I don't look it. (so I'm told all the time but as my mum always says I'll be thanking her when I'm 50. heh.)
Anyway.
Christmas last year my sister made Callum a Pirate Sock Monkey.
When she visited to meet Kai after he was born I chose two pairs of socks, one for her to make a monkey out of for Kai and one just cause I liked them.
The pair I chose just cause I liked she made a Ninja out of complete with nunchucks!
The pair of socks I chose for Kai she made a Sailor.
He even has tattoos!
Best fake tattoo EVER!
Thank you so much again, Jen! I just adore them! :)

Day 174

 23-06-10

Today was a special day for me as I finally met a friend I have known online for while now who also lives on the same street that we moved into last year!
It only took Shel and I 8 months to finally meet but I am so glad we finally did. :)
This photo wasn't the one I was orignally going to post but after looking through them on my laptop I just had to.
The shadow on the right is Callum's little hand reaching for another teddy bear biscuit (cookie) that Shel brought over to share for morning tea. lol
So cute!

Day 171

 20-06-10

It was another typical Canberra winter day today.
Blue sky forever, a little cool at first but then by the afternoon the sun was so beautiful and warm.
When Kai went down for his afternoon nap the rest of us spent some time outside.
Alex dug out the fish pond and installed a bigger one we were given from his boss (they're getting a new pond so gave us their old one), I planted the runners from our strawberry plants into their own pots. (which should have been done a couple of months ago now!) I just hope they survive!
Another big job we got done was paint the wood for the pergola.
We almost finished the tin of paint and the wood needs another coat so it's off to Bunnings again tomorrow (Alex has taken tomorrow off) for some more.

Day 168

 17-06-10

Not a very exciting photo today unfortunately.
It rained all day and when it stopped I wanted to take some photos of leaves with rain drops on them but there just weren't that many to be found!
I will say that when I took this photo it was FREEZING.
I was honestly expecting it to start snowing.

Day 165

 14-06-10

Callum had a 10 cent coin tonight and wanted Alex to spin it on the table.
I decided to play with the macro lens. :)

Day 162

 11-06-10

This photo shows just how confused the plants are here.
With having a warm autumn this year the bulbs in our garden have decided it's time to bloom.
I'm not complaining! I love seeing the beautiful flowers pop up among our cold and leaf bare backyard. :)

Day 158

 07-06-10

I am utterly impressed with Fisher Price/Mattel Australia at the moment.
At the start of the year we bought Kai the Precious Planet Playful Snow Globe & Lights Bouncer.
He loved it, we loved it.
About 2 months ago (I think) the sound of the toy bar stopped working.
I tried a few sets of fresh batteries, tried different button and switch combinations, still nothing.
The snow globe and lights still worked fine though.
Last Monday the 31st of May I finally remembered to email Fisher Price/Mattel asking for help of the problem.
That same day I had an email back asking for my address as they would send a new toy bar out.
It arrived today.
Works perfectly!
Only problem left is that Kai is too heavy for the bouncer now. lol
But I'm happy.
Fisher Price/Mattel will be receiving a letter written on paper and sent in the mail thanking them for their fantastic customer service. :)

Day 155

 04-06-10

If you regularly look at baby and kids things to buy online you may have come across 'Sophie the Giraffe' from Vulli before.
I can't remember when I first came across her, it's been a while since, but I was unfortunately put off by the RRP in Australia.
$34-$37 depending where you look.
I couldn't justify spending that much on a small teething toy but I thought she was cute nonetheless.
Last week I searched for Sophie on eBay. It was on a whim, not sure what made me look.
But I'm glad I did as I found an auction from a seller that had 3 brand new Sophies, in boxes, for $60.
They also had an auction for 2 for $40.
I couldn't help myself.
I bought the 3.
I gave one to Kai (who loves her btw!), I'm gifting one and the 3rd...I'm not sure what I'll do with just yet.
I just love how happy Sophie looks and I love that she's 100% natural rubber.
She's definitely been bringing some relief for Kai especially since tooth #3 is about to pop through any day now!

Day 152

01-06-10

The 1st of June.
Today I got a reminder in the mail that it's my birthday month this month.
$10 to spend on anything I want from Myer!
Knowing me I'll probably end up spending it on the boys. lol
I might be turning the Big 3-0 this year but it's just going to feel like another ordinary day.
I'm not complaining either.
I'll start to complain when my mind starts feeling old.
I hope that will never happen.

Day 149

 29-05-10

Due to a brand new PS3 that Alex got the other day we stopped into EB Games for a lookie at the games while doing a bit of shopping today.
Finding 'Guitar Hero: Aerosmith' preowned for $26 with a half price sticker on the front, we couldn't resist buying it.
$13. Score.
Problem is, we don't have the guitar controller to play it! lol
It's on our "PS3 stuff" list though.
Can't wait to play it. I'm just happy that it's got 'Sweet Emotion' on it.
That is my favourite Aerosmith song ever.
Yup.

Day 126

 06-05-10

Bath time!!

Day 119

 29-04-10

If you know me well you'd know I pretty much live in pyjama pants at home.
I have many (I may live in them but I'm not gross. lol) but they're all cheapies from the big chain stores.
One brand of sleepwear I absolutely adore to look at is Peter Alexander.
(I would wear the brand but they don't fit. I used to be able to but 2 babies later, I'm dreaming. lol)
I've been getting the catalogues sent in the mail for the past 10 years now.
I received the latest one earlier in the week but only had the chance to sit down and look through it tonight.
I'm in love with the 'Space Cadet' and 'Happy Birthday' prints.
I love love love vintage cartoon prints.

Day 97

 07-04-10

We now own a treadmill.
Alex expressed interest in wanting one last week and I happened to come across a second hand one on a forum, hardly used, only 12 months old, for $500.
It's worth $2000+.
Alex decided he wanted it so he picked it up last night.
We shuffled some furniture around this evening to set it up properly.
The thing is HUGE.
But the kicker is, through Alex's work they have an annual $130 rebate scheme on health and fitness equipment (an incentive to get healthy etc).
He checked with head office whether a second hand item with a hand written receipt for proof of purchase would be eligible for the rebate and it is.
So a $2000+ immaculate condition treadmill for $370?
Score.
:)

Day 95

 05-04-10

We finally bought the wood needed to rebuild the cubby that came with this house.
It was a little worse for wear so it's been torn down by us and we're replacing it.
We're keeping the same design but we've also got a kit cubby house that I bought sometime last year (a $200 cubby house on clearance for $50 was too good to pass up!) so we're adding that to the build (cubby house will be raised).
We just need to find a new slide as the current one is all rusty underneath and would have slice Callum's hands open any day now.
Now to find time to actually build it.

Day 81

 22-03-10

Played around with the macro lens again this afternoon.
Get the feeling you're being watched? :)

top left - Alex
top right - Me
(and obviously I didn't take that!)
bottom left - Callum
bottom right - Kai

Please excuse the dirt around Callum's eye. He was having a wow of a time today playing in the backyard.
And why is that my boys have better eyelashes that I do?? They're gorgeous!

Day 54

 23-02-10

Something a little different today - a photo of a 30 year old, well loved - hence the quality, photo.
My mum keeps a photo of all of us (her, my dad and me and my siblings) in her purse and she noticed the other day when going to get money out that Kai totally looks like I did when I was a baby.
I'm sure it's just the bald head and the super fat cheeks though.
I'm also amused at just how long my head is!
