Day 167

 16-06-10

Alex took Callum to have a MUCH needed haircut today.
In the before photo he looks kinda scared stiff but I think he would have just been shy with the hairdresser there. lol
The after photo, much better now don't you think? :)

Day 166

 15-06-10

Not sure what was wrong with me this evening but this is what my head felt like with even the slightest movement.
And I HAD to watch The Wiggles...

Day 165

 14-06-10

Callum had a 10 cent coin tonight and wanted Alex to spin it on the table.
I decided to play with the macro lens. :)

Day 164

 13-06-10

Our friend Colin hired a Dingo digger to do some landscaping of his frontyard today.
We stopped by on the way home (we live in the same suburb) to take a lookie.
Colin showed us how it worked (and did some donuts on it! w00t!) and then Alex jumped on to have a go.
Callum had a go too but was more content to just watch.
Alex and I are thinking one of these might go well in our backyard for some ideas we have. :)

Day 163

 12-06-10

Inside this paint mixer is a tin of paint getting the bejeebus shaken out of it.
We finally have the paint to start painting the wood for the pergola we're covering.
It's a lovely boring shade of dark grey. lol

Day 162

 11-06-10

This photo shows just how confused the plants are here.
With having a warm autumn this year the bulbs in our garden have decided it's time to bloom.
I'm not complaining! I love seeing the beautiful flowers pop up among our cold and leaf bare backyard. :)

Day 161

 10-06-10

I cannot remember the last time I, personally, was able to do a big grocery shop.
With how Callum has been in shops it's always been a nightmare to try and get groceries (so Alex usually ends up doing it on his own after work) but lately he has finally started to behave when we're out in public that it's almost been a pleasure to go to Woolies.
Can't say grocery shopping is a favourite past time of mine though. lol

Day 160

 09-06-10

Something that Alex bought on eBay arrived yesterday and it was wrapped in bubble wrap.
Bubble wrap is a favourite of Callum's but for some reason he insisted on taking it to our bedroom and popping it in the dark. lol
Eventually the 4 of us all ended up in our room and we managed to get the touch lamp on on its lowest setting just so we could keep an eye on Kai properly while we were all sitting on our bed.
I decided to grab the camera and see what I could come up with.
Isn't that little Kai nose so cute?? :)

Day 159

 08-06-10

A semi fruit salad for Callum's afternoon tea.
That kid loves his fruit!

Day 158

 07-06-10

I am utterly impressed with Fisher Price/Mattel Australia at the moment.
At the start of the year we bought Kai the Precious Planet Playful Snow Globe & Lights Bouncer.
He loved it, we loved it.
About 2 months ago (I think) the sound of the toy bar stopped working.
I tried a few sets of fresh batteries, tried different button and switch combinations, still nothing.
The snow globe and lights still worked fine though.
Last Monday the 31st of May I finally remembered to email Fisher Price/Mattel asking for help of the problem.
That same day I had an email back asking for my address as they would send a new toy bar out.
It arrived today.
Works perfectly!
Only problem left is that Kai is too heavy for the bouncer now. lol
But I'm happy.
Fisher Price/Mattel will be receiving a letter written on paper and sent in the mail thanking them for their fantastic customer service. :)

Day 157

 06-06-10

We're covering our pergola with a roof.
We need to add some wood to the beams so the roof will have a slight slant for rain to run off.
Alex borrowed my dad's circular saw as Alex only has a drop saw.
Not too long into making the cuts Alex came inside to tell me that there's a slight problem with the saw.
It started making a weird noise and that there were pretty blue and green sparks coming out of it. lol
So we all piled into the car and went to Bunnings to buy a new saw.
We're not telling my dad about it.
We'll return the new saw and wait and see if my dad even notices he now has a Bosch saw instead of a GMC. ;)

Day 156

 05-06-10

Day 155

 04-06-10

If you regularly look at baby and kids things to buy online you may have come across 'Sophie the Giraffe' from Vulli before.
I can't remember when I first came across her, it's been a while since, but I was unfortunately put off by the RRP in Australia.
$34-$37 depending where you look.
I couldn't justify spending that much on a small teething toy but I thought she was cute nonetheless.
Last week I searched for Sophie on eBay. It was on a whim, not sure what made me look.
But I'm glad I did as I found an auction from a seller that had 3 brand new Sophies, in boxes, for $60.
They also had an auction for 2 for $40.
I couldn't help myself.
I bought the 3.
I gave one to Kai (who loves her btw!), I'm gifting one and the 3rd...I'm not sure what I'll do with just yet.
I just love how happy Sophie looks and I love that she's 100% natural rubber.
She's definitely been bringing some relief for Kai especially since tooth #3 is about to pop through any day now!

Day 154

 03-06-10

Callum appears to back to his old self today.
Such a relief.
He was such a different boy yesterday hardly moving, never leaving the couch.
Today he is bounding with energy and even managed to do one of his favourite activities:
turning himself upside down on the couch.
I wub this little boy so much! :)

Day 153

 02-06-10

This has to be the cleanest blanket in my area at the moment.
My poor baby boy Callum was sick starting around 6pm Monday night.
He couldn't keep anything down and the tiger blanket got in the 'line of fire' so it was put through the wash and hung on the line overnight.
He finally went and stayed asleep around midnight and Tuesday he was managing to keep fluids and a bit of food down.
This morning however it started happening again and once again the tiger blanket need another wash.
But a blanket repeatedly on the line has been the least of my worries these past few days.
I just hope my baby boy improves overnight.

Day 152

01-06-10

The 1st of June.
Today I got a reminder in the mail that it's my birthday month this month.
$10 to spend on anything I want from Myer!
Knowing me I'll probably end up spending it on the boys. lol
I might be turning the Big 3-0 this year but it's just going to feel like another ordinary day.
I'm not complaining either.
I'll start to complain when my mind starts feeling old.
I hope that will never happen.

Day 151

 31-05-10

1 clothes rack
1 Cars flip out sofa
1 big blanket
1 pillow
1 child
=
Instant cubby house and happy child.
;)

Day 150

 30-05-10

It's been a horrible, grey, rainy weekend this weekend.
Winter is truly round the corner.
But it seems the cockies don't mind.
They were out full force today.
While I only snapped two there were about a dozen sitting on the power lines.
Then a big gust of wind came up and they all screeched and flew away. lol

And another photo just cause I like it.
I love the leaves falling off the tree. :)

Day 149

 29-05-10

Due to a brand new PS3 that Alex got the other day we stopped into EB Games for a lookie at the games while doing a bit of shopping today.
Finding 'Guitar Hero: Aerosmith' preowned for $26 with a half price sticker on the front, we couldn't resist buying it.
$13. Score.
Problem is, we don't have the guitar controller to play it! lol
It's on our "PS3 stuff" list though.
Can't wait to play it. I'm just happy that it's got 'Sweet Emotion' on it.
That is my favourite Aerosmith song ever.
Yup.

Day 148

 28-05-10

Balloon fun!

Day 147

 27-05-10

Day 146

 26-05-10

Tonight after dinner we were all playing in the lounge room when Callum started talking into a toy phone.
This is not unusual as he often has a pretend conversation with his cousin, Isabelle.
"Who are you talking to, Callum?"   "'Elle!"
Tonight I asked my usual question and expected to be told he was talking to "'Elle" but this time was different. Tonight he was talking to "Eye-ee!"
My brother's fiancée, Heidi.
I couldn't resist and texted Heidi telling her that Callum was currently talking to her on the phone and even sent her a photo of him.
Later on Heidi sent a photo back...talking to a toy phone!
Callum spent a few minutes talking to the photo. lol
Gotta love 'em! ♥

Day 145

 25-05-10

This is not something we would usually allow but when you have a toddler who hardly eats as it is and a hellish past 2 days like we've had, watching clips on YouTube at dinner time is totally okay with me if it'll mean said toddler will actually eat.
And he did. He almost cleaned off his plate.
Big achievement for someone like Callum!
We started out watching some Wiggles songs (and Alex and I singing along and doing the actions. 'Rock-a-Bye Your Bear' anyone? lol) but Callum saw a thumbnail of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse so we also had a bit of M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E.

Day 144

 24-05-10

LONG day today.
But with the short nap Kai had (which a short nap is unusual for him unfortunately) I was able to make 2 sock puppets with Callum.
Okay, well, Callum did nothing to contribute but he had fun watching me make them...even if I'm not the best hand sewer. lol
I did have a chuckle when Alex asked me in a panicked sort of way if I was sure his black work sock was an odd one.
Trust me, I'm sure. lol
The red and white striped sock is one of Callum's so he's got a Callum-sized puppet.
They're a huge hit with him.
Especially when the puppets sneeze. ;)

Day 143

 23-05-10

Finally bought Kai a new carseat today.
Seeing as we don't go out in the car that often we've been able to get away with using the capsule up until now.
Target had a good price on a HiPod seat with their baby sale they have going at the moment but what's even better is that it scanned $20 cheaper.
Plus we had a $40 gift card we decided to use against it so it only cost us $60 out of our own pocket.
My family calls me the Bargain Queen.
I like to live up to the name. ;)

Day 142

 22-05-10

Was over at my parents today.
I've always loved these two photos of them "back in the day".
Honestly I don't know the story behind each photo and how old they were but I'm pretty sure it was before they got married which means my mum is a teenager in the photo!

Day 141

 21-05-10

Callum I busted Callum in Kai's cot (crib) today.
He is not usually allowed in it but he's drawn to Kai's mobile which I don't really blame him for. lol
I had heard that Kai was awake after his morning nap but I have a rule of not running in to him as soon as I hear him awake so he doesn't come to expect it (sometimes I simply can't run in with how Callum has been lately but I'm ever so grateful that Kai is such an easy going baby. He's happy enough to talk to the ceiling it seems).
I was doing something in the kitchen when I realised it was a little too quiet and discovered Callum wasn't in the lounge room.
Upon entering Kai's room I was greeted with the above brotherly moment.
Super cute!
I am just glad Kai was already awake although knowing him he wouldn't have cared either way!
(I just wish Callum didn't have is dummy (pacifier) in his mouth. We're working on getting rid of it but baby steps are needed for it right now.)

And here's an outtake. lol

I also would like to apologise for Kai appearing in the same suit whenever I post a photo of him.
His clothes are changed daily, I swear!
It just always seems to be that there's a photo op whenever he's in this particular suit.
I don't know why but it's actually kind of embarrassing!

Day 140

 20-05-10

Callum discovered the movie 'Cars' today.
He loves it so much he can use the potty while watching. lol

Day 139

 19-05-10

Alex, Callum and I were outside this evening moving the rabbit pen to a fresh patch of grass.
There's a huge tree in our backyard which has finally started to turn its leaves catching up with the rest of the trees around with it being autumn.
There is a mass of newly fallen leaves underneath the big tree and it had Callum in awe.
He learnt what happens to leaves after explaining it to him and he was proudly telling Alex that there will be new leaves in spring.
Gotta love that boy! :)

Day 138

 18-05-10

We did a tiny craft project today.
Happened on a whim and I guess seeing as I managed to trace Kai's hand (and hold a crayon in his hand for him to 'colour' it in. lol) I decided to go with it and I insisted Alex make one of his hand.
I had to smile when I saw him drawing and colouring the Chevrolet bowtie.
Such an Alex thing to do!
Once I get some cardboard I'll be mounting the hands properly.
Unless I frame them.
Hmmmm...

Day 137

 17-05-10

Kai is 7 months today!
Believe it or not he was actually super happy in this photo.
He's definitely found his voice. lol

Day 136

 16-05-10

Dismantled carport arrived by trailer. (super long trailer! 6 metres!)
The carport is going up behind our garage for some extra work space for Alex.
When that's going to happen though is anyone's guess.
Alex needs to get over the 2 full days of taking the thing down to think about putting it back up!
Men and their wonderful ideas...

Day 135

 15-05-10

Dismantling a carport means having fun with an angle grinder. :)

Day 134

 14-05-10

A magic trick with Uncle Colin.

Before:

After:

:)

Day 133

 13-05-10

Warm jacket - check.
Ugg boots - check.
Pants - meh, who needs pants to jump on a trampoline anyway? =D

Day 132

 12-05-10

My baby boy is getting too big too fast.
Please slow down!
I must say though, he's growing into such a handsome little person!
(I could be a little biased though. lol)

Day 131

 11-05-10

I have a bit of a grumpy baby today so I'm seizing the chance to post today's photo while I get the chance.

Callum and I made a banana and blueberry cake today.
First time adding the blueberries so no idea how it'll taste.
But what kid doesn't enjoy licking out the bowl?
Call me a big kid cause I love doing it too. :)

Day 130

 10-05-10

Kai has his very first tooth!
I honestly believe it cut through yesterday but I hadn't felt his gums at all then so have just noticed it today.
My baby boy is growing up way too fast. :(
But check out those gorgeous peepers with long eyelashes!!

Day 129

 09-05-10

We went to the 'Mother's Day Party In The Park' today in Glebe Park.
Us 4 met up with Alex's mum and step-dad, my parents, my brother and his fiancée, and my 2 nieces.
This was a joke photo.
Just a random "oh hey, there's my brother."
ZOOM.SNAP.
But looking at all the photos I took today on my laptop I thought it was kinda neat.
You can see what the event was like in the reflection of my brother's glasses.
:)

Day 128

 08-05-10

A much needed trip to the tip today to get rid of leaves, prunings and other garden waste that's been piling up.
I'm still hoping for the day when Canberra will decide to give everyone a green bin to use.
Would make every Canberran's lifestyle a whole lot easier.

Day 127

 07-05-10

RAHHHH!!
I'm a scary vampire/werewolf person!!
=)

Day 126

 06-05-10

Bath time!!

Day 125

 05-05-10

I know it's not a great photo but if I don't post this I have nothing else.
I still think it's kinda cool and am itching to get some more practice in.
f/7.1
ISO-400
30 sec exposure
Would adore to do a longer exposure and see what it would look like.
btw, if you don't know what you're looking at, that is the Southern Cross constellation.
The same constellation that is on the Australian flag. ;)

Day 124

 04-05-10

Watching the storm roll in.
And wow did it ever!

Day 123

 03-05-10

There is rain forecasted tomorrow and I desperately needed to do washing today.
Unfortunately I started too late in the day so I'm having to dry it in front of the fire.
This is 3 loads.
I think now we're a family of 4 a 3rd clothes rack is needed as you can see by how creative I've had to be to get everything on the 2 I have.
Already though half of it is dry.
I'm kinda liking having a fireplace. :)

Day 122

 02-05-10

Lazy Sunday spent doing a bit of shopping and a stop into the Parents Room at the Canberra Centre.
:)

Day 121

 01-05-10

Words just cannot express how much I love this kid.
