Day 120

 30-04-10

This photo was kind of accidental.
I was outside tonight taking photos of the stars but wasn't having much luck as the cloud quickly rolled in and covered them.
I was about to pack up and go inside when I noticed the shadow of the tree against the side of our house which was being cast from a back neighbour's outside light.
I stepped away and then saw the shadow of the camera on the tripod.
I couldn't resist taking a photo.
Not bad!

Day 119

 29-04-10

If you know me well you'd know I pretty much live in pyjama pants at home.
I have many (I may live in them but I'm not gross. lol) but they're all cheapies from the big chain stores.
One brand of sleepwear I absolutely adore to look at is Peter Alexander.
(I would wear the brand but they don't fit. I used to be able to but 2 babies later, I'm dreaming. lol)
I've been getting the catalogues sent in the mail for the past 10 years now.
I received the latest one earlier in the week but only had the chance to sit down and look through it tonight.
I'm in love with the 'Space Cadet' and 'Happy Birthday' prints.
I love love love vintage cartoon prints.

Day 118

 28-04-10

I made a 'no sew fleece blanket' with what I bought from Spotlight yesterday.
I had wanted to make one since Callum was a baby but never got around to it so I made one for Kai to use as a floor rug for him to lie on. (okay, roll on. He doesn't just lie there anymore!)
For some reason I LOVE to surround Kai with bright, bold colours.
I was a bit worried that I made the wrong choice with getting the purple fleece instead of a typical blue for a boy but I'm glad I went with the purple afterall.
It totally works as there is no purple in the stripe fleece and just looks awesome.
The knots of the blanket are far from perfect but because it's just a floor rug I really don't care.
If I ever make another one though, I think I'll just stick to the easiest kind of knot there is. My fingers are sore!

Day 117

 27-04-10

Alex took today off from work and we had to go to Queanbeyan (a town just over the border from Canberra) to return a laptop that Alex fixed for a friend and I decided to go to Spotlight while we were in the area. (Canberra doesn't have it's own Spotlight which is very sucky.)
Even though it was fairly quiet with it being a Tuesday and I was 3rd in line when I joined the queue, I still had to wait at least 20 minutes before I was served.
Something tells me though it's always slow in every Spotlight store across the country.

Day 116

 26-04-10

This is Alex (on right) and his mate Colin trying to figure out, in the dark, the wiring of a dimmer switch that controls the speed of the fan for the ducted heating from our wood fire.
I am happy to say they had success.
(phew!)

Day 115

 25-04-10

Today the Playhouse Disney channel played Toy Story & Toy Story 2 back to back.
Callum watched Toy Story by himself but for Toy Story 2 Alex and I joined him.
Nothing like a lazy Sunday watching movies. :)

Day 114

 24-04-10

Going northside to the computer markets and then to my parents house to pick up some boxes of toys from my childhood resulted in staying to go to the Labor Club for dinner to celebrate the official engagement of my brother and his girlfriend.
(yay Geoff and Heidi!!)
This weekend my nieces were there so of course everyone had to play the chocolate machine. ;)

Day 113

 23-04-10

This evening when Alex got home from work we took advantage of the remaining sunlight and Alex (with the help of Callum of course) dug out the old sand pit that goes underneath where the cubby is being rebuilt.
About 3/4 of the way in the shovel broke. Oops!
This photo is of Callum telling us he wasn't the one who broke it when we asked if it was him. ;)

Day 112

 22-04-10

It's amazing just how much this thing, when you see the lights flicker when it detects slight noise or you hear your baby through it, can make you want to bash your head against a wall.
It's probably due to his vaccinations on Tuesday but Kai has been very unsettled hence the late posts from me.
Wish I knew what Callum's problem has been though.
Hopefully thing will be better by the weekend.
Fingers crossed!

Day 111

 21-04-10

Has been a harrowing past 2 days which is why my photos have been late.
This photo makes me laugh which is what I need right now.
Love my little Kai bug. :)

Day 110

 20-04-10

Kai had his 6 month vaccinations today.
Also, Alex and I got the free Whooping Cough vaccine as there's been an outbreak of it in Canberra within the last 12 months and after doing a bit of research into it I decided to get the shot.
We did decline the H1N1 vaccine though.
I quickly snapped this shot with my phone once we were all done.
This is the room all three of us got our shots and Kai was measured on the yellow mat.
The scale is on the left of the room out of view.
Kai's healthy and it looks like his solid weight gain is finally slowing down.
Yay for healthy!

Day 109

 19-04-10

I turned out Kai's 6 month hand and foot castings tonight.
They're not perfect but I wasn't expecting them to be.
I did have an issue with the plaster so I'm relieved it all still worked out well regardless.
Tearing the alginate mould apart I was so scared of breaking the fingers but success!
It looks kinda creepy having baby body parts sitting on my bench right now (and they're sitting next to Callum's 6 month hand and foot castings at the moment) but I know it'll be cute in a few years time when Kai isn't a baby anymore!
Oh to keep them babies forever, huh?

Day 108

 18-04-10

Welcome to the inside of our roof.
Alex wanted to go up there today to have a look at the heating ducts and fan as the heating to the rest of the house isn't working so well.
He was trying to explain to me what was up there in regards to the lack of insulation and seeing as I had the camera in my hand I told him to just take a few photos.
I know roof cavities are never glamorous or anything but I have a huge desire to vacuum up there now. lol

Day 107

 17-04-10

Kai is 6 months old today.
I honestly cannot believe it's been that long already.
Today I put together the Precious Planet Jumperoo that we bought a few months ago.
Kai is in love with the thing. He loves to bounce.
(may not look like it in the photo but he does. Honest!)
I'm not sure how long he'll be able to use for though as while he's only just long enough for the lowest setting he's very snug in the seat.
He's short and fat.
But he's healthy. :)

Day 106

 16-04-10

It was discovered tonight that my youngest niece left her doll here when she visited yesterday.
Callum decided he would take care of it for her.
Awwwww. ♥

Day 105

 15-04-10

This is my nieces tshirt.
No idea if she actually does heart vampires or not but when you're an Aunt and you spy CHEAP girls clothing (I'm talking originally was $16, now on clearance for $2!) you buy it for her no matter what she hearts.
It's a cool shirt nonetheless.
I mean, hello, vampires and glitter!

Day 104

 14-04-10

Tonight was night 2 of a cozy, mesmorising fire.

Day 103

 13-04-10

Tonight we went over to Alex's mum's house to look at her external harddrive that was suddenly not working (was just the enclosure) and to also get help with polishing up Alex's application for a job that's due at the end of the week.
We also stayed for dinner.
While Alex and B were working on the application I was hanging out with Callum in the lounge room.
I'm always drawn to her bookshelf and I can stand in front of it just gazing at the hundreds and hundreds of different cook books.
And that's all there is.
From floor to ceiling, absolutely crammed full.
All of those books are cook books.
Well, I did count at least 4 non-cook books which included a first aid book and the Bible but I really had to try hard to find a book that wasn't about cooking.
So, so impressive.

Day 102

 12-04-10

Imagine our surprise when Alex and I got Callum ready for his bath tonight to discover this little piece of artwork under his long pants and long sleeved top. lol
Thank goodness for Crayola Washable Markers though. ;)

Day 101

 11-04-10

My hair became too annoying to bear today that I went over to see my brother's girlfriend and got her to chop some off.
My hair style is basic.
Have never had a "proper" style, don't ever really wish to.
I can wash it, comb it and let it air dry and it's done.
It wasn't a drastic change as you can see but Heidi did a FANTASTIC job. (even though she was more nervous about it than I was!)
It's straight, it's even and wow does it feel so healthy now the split ends are gone. lol
Thank you, Heidi! You rock. =)

Day 100

 10-04-10

More shopping at the Canberra Centre this weekend.
Something Callum had never done before was to sit and watch people down below from the top floor.
Lots of cars, lots of bikes, lots of people.

And YAY! to Day 100!

Day 99

 09-04-10

One trick to get Callum to have a bath?
Put a tub colour in a ziploc bag full of water.
I will admit it's kinda neat. lol

Day 98

 08-04-10

While playing with Callum in the lounge room we heard a big truck come down our street.
Callum wanted to go see it so we went outside.
Turns out there were council workers working on the road.
I was too chicken to get a better shot.
This was me hiding from view of the truck driver.
I was still in my pj's and I just didn't want him to think I was taking a photo to complain or something. lol
I know, I'm paranoid. =D

Day 97

 07-04-10

We now own a treadmill.
Alex expressed interest in wanting one last week and I happened to come across a second hand one on a forum, hardly used, only 12 months old, for $500.
It's worth $2000+.
Alex decided he wanted it so he picked it up last night.
We shuffled some furniture around this evening to set it up properly.
The thing is HUGE.
But the kicker is, through Alex's work they have an annual $130 rebate scheme on health and fitness equipment (an incentive to get healthy etc).
He checked with head office whether a second hand item with a hand written receipt for proof of purchase would be eligible for the rebate and it is.
So a $2000+ immaculate condition treadmill for $370?
Score.
:)

Day 96

 06-04-10

Had a bit of a crappy day today so this was a last minute photo.
My peaceful baby boy asleep in our bed.

Day 95

 05-04-10

We finally bought the wood needed to rebuild the cubby that came with this house.
It was a little worse for wear so it's been torn down by us and we're replacing it.
We're keeping the same design but we've also got a kit cubby house that I bought sometime last year (a $200 cubby house on clearance for $50 was too good to pass up!) so we're adding that to the build (cubby house will be raised).
We just need to find a new slide as the current one is all rusty underneath and would have slice Callum's hands open any day now.
Now to find time to actually build it.

Day 94

 04-04-10

Easter 2010.
Soooo incredibly sick of this sight.
Tonight I can't get enough water or brush my teeth often enough!
But a good day was had by all. :)

Day 93

 03-04-10

A long weekend isn't a long weekend without a trip to Bunnings!

Day 92

 02-04-10

Nothing like a bit of father & son time.

Day 91

 01-04-10

This is the aftermath of the first roast cooked in this house and also the first roast ever cooked on our BBQ!
It was cooked to absolute perfection.
Alex invited our friend Colin so we've made a night of it.
Great start to the long weekend. :)
